"Circle Story"... abstract painting by Indian artist Manisha Vedpathak

I was obsessed with circles sometime back. Subconsciously they appeared in my paintings. I think we observe circles everywhere in life , from the shower head to the water rushing down the tiles of the bathroom. The circle is timeless but also modern and hi-tech like lenses. The great fiery Sun is a circle. Every landscape holds a sun.  We go round in circles all our life.

There are some paintings I intentionally painted with circle in mind. I would like to post these few old ones again since I don't have a new one. I am working on a portrait right now. My daughter's friend wanted a portrait of his parents. It's a challenge for me as I am not a portrait artist. Lets see how it turns out. Will be posting the updates of the portrait.

Till then enjoy the circles!

An abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

A new abstract painting , a big one after a long time.
Painting of circles , sacred circles, circles of life.
My circle story.... entangled circles depict life circles. There are layers upon
layers ,texture...Though texture is not seen in the photo very clearly.
The rectangles in red and green depict the paths in our life.
Sometimes  we have one or more paths going in the same direction and
its our skill to choose the right one. Arrows show that
sometimes we are fortunate to have direct direction in life , where we have to lead.
My elder daughter, Janhavi, likes creative  writing. I asked her if she
could write a few lines for this painting. And this is what she handed me....

" They say life is a cycle, you are going to end up where you came from.
These cycles are often entangled. There are directions, the first
which is inevitable, the second which we choose. The first is
human development which starts from infancy to old age.
The second is the direction which build us as people. This direction
is full of paths we choose that moulds us. Surely, a person
choosing to be an actress will mould herself differently than
someone who plans to be a writer. We will see an ocean of paths,
but the skill lies in choosing which suits and shapes your life the best".

Do write me if you liked this writeup or if you have some other
perspective of my painting. Couldn't find a good title so decided
to post it any way till I find one. Would appreciate if my readers
could suggest one.

My all time favourite circles....an abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

I have noticed that with my subconcious mind ,whenever I start
an abstract after a long gap I start with circles. These are my all time
favourite. And usually I am happy with the painting having circles in it.
So here is a reworked piece.  It is diptych, textured painting.30x60cms

"Life".....An abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

"Life"
Acrylic on canvas, 19.6"x19.6"

This morning I heard this line in one of the TV soaps.
"Life is a journey...full of surprises" .
I am sure everybody will agree with this.
My painting also depicts Life. There are circles and there
are crossroads outside the circles. Every person goes through
this in life. There are crossroads ...some colorful, some black,
some hazy. There are many moments when you feel your life
is complete just like circles.
There is a mystery about the pearl string at the bottom of the painting.
The thing is ...A few months ago, I had started a painting which
had  this pearl string painted. Unfortunately I don't have the image
to show since I didn't like what I was creating. In the process while
reworking this canvas, I decided to keep the pearl string untouched.
It does suit the painting. And I feel it also adds meaning to the painting.
According to me it depicts the happiest moment in the Life.
What is your opinion?

An abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

I had a fun filled busy weekend at the Annual Bazaar
organized by the International Women's Club of Ghana.
I am a member of the club and looked after the Kid's zone
in the Bazaar. For a change I enjoyed painting kid's faces
instead of canvas. I had started a painting last week. Finished it today.
I haven't thought of any title. Can any one suggest me one.
Acrylic on canvas, 40x40 cms

"Freedom"....An acrylic painting

"Freedom"
Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas,
24"X31", Available
Here is the finished piece which I mentioned in my previou post.
. My younger daughter has also joined her sister
to my home town for holidays,so it's only me and my hubby for a month
after which we will be joining them.so I am totally free.It is not that
my soul is free of responsibilities ,as one corner of the soul is always
occupied with kid's thoughts like any other Mom.But yes, my actions are free.
And thats the reason I gave complete freedom to my hands and thus the name.
AFTER ALL SECRET OF HAPPINESS IS FREEDOM.
Though I am not happy with the title.I will be glad if anyone  suggest a better one.

In the above painting,I had no prearrangement of the composition, just
knew that I wanted to use the cooler tones of the pallette. The circles
were done with a comb directly and a pallette knife was used for remaining
except the design,a little  here n there ,was done by brush.Painting an abstract is
just like singing a song...let's say visual song on canvas. Thats the reason
I love listening to  songs while painting....actually I love music any time of
the day. Any suggestions for the title are most welcome!!
