"Washing day"......An acrylic painting on canvas

I think of a  lot of themes whenever I want to start
a painting but eventually end up in doing abstracts.
I have decided that I will try to focus on my abstracts
but I will keep on doing some combination of
 abstract and figurative occasionally.
So here is one in the same line. African ladies washing
clothes.I would appreciate and love any comments on
my artwork.

"Freedom"....An acrylic painting

"Freedom"
Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas,
24"X31", Available
Here is the finished piece which I mentioned in my previou post.
. My younger daughter has also joined her sister
to my home town for holidays,so it's only me and my hubby for a month
after which we will be joining them.so I am totally free.It is not that
my soul is free of responsibilities ,as one corner of the soul is always
occupied with kid's thoughts like any other Mom.But yes, my actions are free.
And thats the reason I gave complete freedom to my hands and thus the name.
AFTER ALL SECRET OF HAPPINESS IS FREEDOM.
Though I am not happy with the title.I will be glad if anyone  suggest a better one.

In the above painting,I had no prearrangement of the composition, just
knew that I wanted to use the cooler tones of the pallette. The circles
were done with a comb directly and a pallette knife was used for remaining
except the design,a little  here n there ,was done by brush.Painting an abstract is
just like singing a song...let's say visual song on canvas. Thats the reason
I love listening to  songs while painting....actually I love music any time of
the day. Any suggestions for the title are most welcome!!

Small Acrylic Paintings by Manisha Vedpathak

Colorful Web
Acrylic on canvas,7.8" * 7.8"
I enjoyed doing this simple abstract. I have three
pieces of this style and could be hung as a set.
Below is the image of three as a set.Sorry for
 the quality of the photo.

Hazy
Acrylic and fabic pen on canvas,15.7" * 15.7"

Warli Dance
Acrylic on canvas,15.7" * 15.7"
This is a type of tribal art from India.
Warli Paintings are the ancient Indian folk
art  tradition of Warli Tribe in Indian state
of  Maharashtra. These paintings depict the normal,
day to day and social life of common people.
Mainly created on mud walls of tribal houses by
women of the houses. They use geometric shapes
such as triangles, circles, squares, dots and
crooked lines. These shapes are used to depict
human figures, animal figures, houses, crops etc.
The themes are often repetitive and symbolic in nature.
Hope you all enjoy these pieces.

Blaze ... An Abstract

When I started painting on this canvas, just like any other
abstract artist I didn't know my destination.I was not sure
of the outcome of this painting. It was just a scrap canvas
which was painted with black and grey stripes.I was
then painting three big canvases.Somewhere in between these
paintings I poured some color on this scrap canvas and it lay
there till I finished 5 paintings. Then one fine morning I decided
to go with it and was happy with the result and decided to do
some more in same style. So here came the second.

And here is the third in the series.Decided to use shades
of red in this painting.

Glamour...An acrylic painting in Afrian series

This painting was inspired from the girls I
see at a supershop in Accra. They look after the
perfumes section of the shop. All are tall, slim and
look very presentable in their traditional outfit.
Of course they don't wear the headdress in the
shop but I have seen ladies wearing in their
functions. And they look so gorgeous and
 glamorous in it.

Beneath the mask ! An acrylic painting .

Beneath the mask
Acrylic on canvas,100 * 100 cms
How many people in this world wear  masks
which are not fake but are real? We all do.We
wear these masks subconsciously out of habit.
I believe even I wear a mask.Not that
I am fake.I try to be Me..myself most of the
time. But some places I would like to wear this
mask because I don't want to show my weaknesses
or my faults.I don't want to feel vulnerable.
I am sure this is the case with many people.
We are in a circle of society and putting off
masks depends if society accepts you for
who you are.But again there are some who
don't care what others think about them.
So I don't know if it is a good idea to
drop off all the masks. What do you say?

Motherhood

The background of this canvas was actually
painted by my daughter. It was just lying in
her  room so I decided to work on it.

I have always loved to see these African
ladies carrying babies on their back while
they are working.
I believe motherhood is the precious gift that
a woman has got .Both of my art pieces are
based on motherhood. I have also tried to use
 watermark for one work.

Mystical Bison !!

Hi friends,I am not posting very often these days
as I am a bit busy getting ready for my first
exhibition.I am exhibiting along with a senior
Ghanaian artist.I will be posting the invitation
card and details of the exhibition very soon.

Mystical Bison,Acrylic on canvas
There is an interesting story behind this painting.
I had this panel painted black for some reason
and white color spilled on it.Now..since it was
looking really good so I tossed the panel up and
down to allow the color to flow.In the process
I became so thrilled that started pouring colors
one afteranother and this is what was created. When I
thought that it was finished ,I sat back and started
thinking on what I have created.I found a shape
in it of a bison ...so  decided to name it Mystical
Bison.Let me know what my friends find in this.
Also do suggest some title accordingly.

This was the painting that was
commissioned for a factory back
 in 2009.

Tic Tac Toe

Tic Tac Toe
Acrylic on canvas,80*80 cms

This game theme was in my mind for a very long
time.I wanted it to be a bright colored ,textured
painting.I tried to do the same ,used several
things for texture but I am not that happy. The
outcome is not what I thought should have been.
I would like to know what my fellow artist
feel about this piece. Please  feel free to
comment.
