"Life".....An abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

"Life"
Acrylic on canvas, 19.6"x19.6"

This morning I heard this line in one of the TV soaps.
"Life is a journey...full of surprises" .
I am sure everybody will agree with this.
My painting also depicts Life. There are circles and there
are crossroads outside the circles. Every person goes through
this in life. There are crossroads ...some colorful, some black,
some hazy. There are many moments when you feel your life
is complete just like circles.
There is a mystery about the pearl string at the bottom of the painting.
The thing is ...A few months ago, I had started a painting which
had  this pearl string painted. Unfortunately I don't have the image
to show since I didn't like what I was creating. In the process while
reworking this canvas, I decided to keep the pearl string untouched.
It does suit the painting. And I feel it also adds meaning to the painting.
According to me it depicts the happiest moment in the Life.
What is your opinion?

An abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

I had a fun filled busy weekend at the Annual Bazaar
organized by the International Women's Club of Ghana.
I am a member of the club and looked after the Kid's zone
in the Bazaar. For a change I enjoyed painting kid's faces
instead of canvas. I had started a painting last week. Finished it today.
I haven't thought of any title. Can any one suggest me one.
Acrylic on canvas, 40x40 cms

"Kaleidoscopic"....An absract by Manisha Vedpathak

"Kaleidoscopic"
Acrylic on canvas,74"x50"

This is the last painting I did for the exhibition.
This is largest canvas I worked on until now and I
thoroughly enjoyed it. It took me about a week to
complete this piece including the time required to
dry the color poured in the process.
This is how it started...

And here is the finished piece.

My paintings have reached. The images for the
catalog have reached. Just that there was a small
issue with the dpi of the jpeg(image) files. All the files
I sent were 72 dpi whereas they need 300 dpi in
order to get the best  printing quality for the catalog .

Though they were nice enough to compromise with the
same images, I thought of this as a good chance
to learn about resolution of image files.

So I searched for an online dpi converter and
changed all the 21 images to 300 dpi. In future, I
better check out the settings in my camera so that
I can take photos closer to 300dpi.
I believe this is one more area where I should improve
to be more organized. Well...I should have done
this after the New York exhibition but then I got
so busy with my paintings that I didn't really bother
to look into this area.

I now have to create an online portfolio. Might use www.wix.com
to create one. They have some cool templates which I liked.

I believe ,with the usage of vivid colors ,my art piece "Kaleidoscopic" ,will add personality
to your room while challenging the viewers anytime
they enter the room. Enjoy!

"Game Over"...An abstract by contemporary artist Manisha Vedpathak

"Game Over"
Acrylic on canvas, 33"x59"

A tic tac toe game loved by kids, over geometrical background.
After taking my time to paint the geometrical shapes, which I
thoroughly enjoy, it was fun time to play with comb, knife and
paint for texture, remembering the time spent in childhood
 playing tic tac toe.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and I hope you do.

"Scattered"...An Abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

A day after I started this painting ,we got a bad news from India.
One of my husband's college friend passed away due to cardiac
attack. The news deeply disturbed us. This guy was so health
conscious and was very fit and was leading a nice happily married life.
But that's life I believe, which turns a somebody into nobody in a
fraction of seconds. I was not able to concentrate ,was thinking about
the news ,was very upset. I wanted to throw out the emotional
negativity from my mind and in such a situation , meditation is a good solution.
But I am not that kind of a person to relax your body and focus your mind.
So I preferred my way of meditation, and that is painting.
Whole time while painting I kept  struggling to remove the thing
bothering me, out of my mind. So I allowed my untamed mind to race
over all places on canvas and scatter. Thus the title "Scattered".

Day3.....A finished work...An abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

I always find it difficult to title an art work when
it comes to a non-representational abstract.
This type of art does not have any fixed object
to associate with reality. But I believe it can make
the viewer feel happy/sad/angry without any concrete
reason.
As I was thinking of the title , I decided to play a
fun game. I showed my painting to my driver, watchman,
the house helps , my daughter and asked them to tell
me what they see in my painting. And here's what
I got ....a crocodile, some faces, a world map, ghosts????
clouds.
Would you like to be a part of this game? If yes, do
drop in a comment as to what you see in my painting.
And in my next post I will share my feelings when
I was creating this artwork.

To have your artwork appreciated by the viewer is a gratifying experience of having accomplished

something significant.

"Rejuvenate", acrylic painting by Manisha Vedpathak

I had created two paintings in 2011 in a limited palette. Today when I was searching for an old painting these two cropped up. And then I hung them in my studio and stood back , thinking should I add more colors to it. It always happens to me. I try to create something which is of neutral value but in the end color wins. I want my paintings to be colorful . I believe clever combination of shapes and colors create lively thoughts and feelings. I am thankful to God for all the beautiful colors given to us. So here's the flash of colors. Enjoy!!

"Up-to-the-minute"......An acrylic on canvas

"Up-to-the-minute"
An acrylic on canvas,38"x38"

I couldn't stop thinking of the painting I posted
in my previous post. I kept on adding ,giving
layers to the canvas, torturing it in all possible ways.
In the process ,I went through a lot of mixed emotions,
but didn't give up until I felt satisfied and complete
about this art work.
I hope you all like it. I changed the titled as I
have now given a new look to the "spill over".I
found this one interesting which is a synonym
for: recently changed to appear modern.
Do drop in a few lines about how you feel about
the artwork. Believe me ,its rewarding to get
feedback from others.

"Burst"...An Abstract in acrylic on canvas!!

"Burst"
Acrylic on canvas,24"x31"

There was a painting which I did in 2011.
My apologies for the bad quality of the photo.
( I didn't know THEN, how to photograph an artwork :) )

There was a feeling of  incompleteness in this painting,
but always had  a hesitation to try my hand on it, out
of the  fear that original may get spoiled.I had hung this
painting in the hall which I always do with  some paintings,
which I feel  can be improved. The  reason  is ,looking at it
everyday gives me  ideas  for the next painting or I can
keep guessing what I can add to that painting.

This morning, I felt a sudden urge to add some colors
to this painting and then there was a burst of colors on it
 and thus the name.
Awwww...I so love this painting now. Do you?
I have thought of two titles for this painting which are related
to the making of it:
1)Urge
2)Burst
Though I have selected BURST which one do you suggest?
Don't just leave the page after reading,I would appreciate
if you can drop a suggestion which will make me feel
connected to you all ,the readers of my blog.
