"Game Over"...An abstract by contemporary artist Manisha Vedpathak

"Game Over"
Acrylic on canvas, 33"x59"

A tic tac toe game loved by kids, over geometrical background.
After taking my time to paint the geometrical shapes, which I
thoroughly enjoy, it was fun time to play with comb, knife and
paint for texture, remembering the time spent in childhood
 playing tic tac toe.
I thoroughly enjoyed this and I hope you do.

I have signed at the back of this painting , enabling
the painting to be hung in any direction.

"Scattered"...An Abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

A day after I started this painting ,we got a bad news from India.
One of my husband's college friend passed away due to cardiac
attack. The news deeply disturbed us. This guy was so health
conscious and was very fit and was leading a nice happily married life.
But that's life I believe, which turns a somebody into nobody in a
fraction of seconds. I was not able to concentrate ,was thinking about
the news ,was very upset. I wanted to throw out the emotional
negativity from my mind and in such a situation , meditation is a good solution.
But I am not that kind of a person to relax your body and focus your mind.
So I preferred my way of meditation, and that is painting.
Whole time while painting I kept  struggling to remove the thing
bothering me, out of my mind. So I allowed my untamed mind to race
over all places on canvas and scatter. Thus the title "Scattered".

Day3.....A finished work...An abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

I always find it difficult to title an art work when
it comes to a non-representational abstract.
This type of art does not have any fixed object
to associate with reality. But I believe it can make
the viewer feel happy/sad/angry without any concrete
reason.
As I was thinking of the title , I decided to play a
fun game. I showed my painting to my driver, watchman,
the house helps , my daughter and asked them to tell
me what they see in my painting. And here's what
I got ....a crocodile, some faces, a world map, ghosts????
clouds.
Would you like to be a part of this game? If yes, do
drop in a comment as to what you see in my painting.
And in my next post I will share my feelings when
I was creating this artwork.

To have your artwork appreciated by the viewer is a gratifying experience of having accomplished

something significant.

"Up-to-the-minute"......An acrylic on canvas

"Up-to-the-minute"
An acrylic on canvas,38"x38"

I couldn't stop thinking of the painting I posted
in my previous post. I kept on adding ,giving
layers to the canvas, torturing it in all possible ways.
In the process ,I went through a lot of mixed emotions,
but didn't give up until I felt satisfied and complete
about this art work.
I hope you all like it. I changed the titled as I
have now given a new look to the "spill over".I
found this one interesting which is a synonym
for: recently changed to appear modern.
Do drop in a few lines about how you feel about
the artwork. Believe me ,its rewarding to get
feedback from others.

"Freedom"....An acrylic painting

"Freedom"
Acrylic on gallery wrapped canvas,
24"X31", Available
Here is the finished piece which I mentioned in my previou post.
. My younger daughter has also joined her sister
to my home town for holidays,so it's only me and my hubby for a month
after which we will be joining them.so I am totally free.It is not that
my soul is free of responsibilities ,as one corner of the soul is always
occupied with kid's thoughts like any other Mom.But yes, my actions are free.
And thats the reason I gave complete freedom to my hands and thus the name.
AFTER ALL SECRET OF HAPPINESS IS FREEDOM.
Though I am not happy with the title.I will be glad if anyone  suggest a better one.

In the above painting,I had no prearrangement of the composition, just
knew that I wanted to use the cooler tones of the pallette. The circles
were done with a comb directly and a pallette knife was used for remaining
except the design,a little  here n there ,was done by brush.Painting an abstract is
just like singing a song...let's say visual song on canvas. Thats the reason
I love listening to  songs while painting....actually I love music any time of
the day. Any suggestions for the title are most welcome!!

An Experiment....

Musicians
Acrylic on canvas,30"X39"

I experimented this on a piece of abstract I had done earlier.
Personally I have enjoyed this but I am not very sure if I have
succeded or I have spoiled the original. Here is the original.

Nevertheless an artist always learn from mistakes.
I am going to try some more such pieces. Do leave
your comments about what you think of the experimental
artwork.

Small Acrylic Paintings by Manisha Vedpathak

Colorful Web
Acrylic on canvas,7.8" * 7.8"
I enjoyed doing this simple abstract. I have three
pieces of this style and could be hung as a set.
Below is the image of three as a set.Sorry for
 the quality of the photo.

Hazy
Acrylic and fabic pen on canvas,15.7" * 15.7"

Warli Dance
Acrylic on canvas,15.7" * 15.7"
This is a type of tribal art from India.
Warli Paintings are the ancient Indian folk
art  tradition of Warli Tribe in Indian state
of  Maharashtra. These paintings depict the normal,
day to day and social life of common people.
Mainly created on mud walls of tribal houses by
women of the houses. They use geometric shapes
such as triangles, circles, squares, dots and
crooked lines. These shapes are used to depict
human figures, animal figures, houses, crops etc.
The themes are often repetitive and symbolic in nature.
Hope you all enjoy these pieces.
