Printmanking workshop at Zapurza.....by Indian visual artist Manisha Vedpathak

Zapurza is a museum of arts and culture situated in Pune, India.  It has a beautiful campus spread over seven acres of land on the banks of Khadakwasla Dam, Pune. It houses 10 galleries/ display areas, workshop/activity area, beautiful auditorium and amphitheatre, a merchandise store and a restaurant serving local delicacies.

So in this beautiful campus, we had a printmaking workshop under the guidance of eminent artist Raju Sutar.  Assisting him was artist Monali Pawaskar. We had amazing time for 3 days from 11am- 5pm.

We learned about Intaglio printmaking.  Etching of the zinc plate, sketching on it. Soaking the plate in nitric acid , giving a uniform layer of black Japan paint , then comes the wiping and then printing.

Well , I dont intend to give all the details here, the above points were just to see if I remember all the steps. LOL.

Here are some of the pics of the workshop.

Covered in black Japan paint and ready to be wiped wiped.

After Itried dry etching on the plate.

"Misty forest".....an abstract landscape by Indian visual artist Manisha Vedpathak

"Misty forest "

This painting tells you about the misty dawn , just before the sunrise with slight light coming from deep in the forest with the birds singing overhead. I dream again and again about the zen walk deep in the forest . I hope you get the same feeling through this painting.

A painting from the residency at Hampi in 2022....by Indian visual artist Manisha Vedpathak

Just came across this pic so decided to post here. Last year I had participated in a residency that was curated by  eminent artist Raju Sutar at Hampi, Karnataka, India. This painting was a bit different from my style but I tried to show the freedom I felt, from the very hustle and bustle of the city life. There is a calmness in the painting .

Hope you enjoy this calmness looking at the painting.

"Enchanted ".....an abstract painting by Indian visual artist Manisha Ved[pathak

I feel magic here in the enchanted forest. The woods invite me into themselves so that I am drawn out of myself. This painting of enchanted forest draws your attention , makes you wrap yourself in a cozy blanket , get a cup of warm tea and enjoy the calmness.

This time I used round canvases and I really enjoyed this shape. These will fit well on both coloured and white wall, framed or unframed.
Feel enchanted!

(Sorry for the bad images, will post better ones very soon)
