Some perspectives on "Kathputli"......by Manisha Vedpathhak

I had posted some perspectives of my friends on the painting "Anonymity".

This time too I played the same game and got really nice views on my 

painting. Though all are in my native language, Marathi. My Indian readers

will surely enjoy. The first one is written by my Mom and the last one

 is by my Sis-in-Law and I feel very proud to share this.

एक निरागस अल्पवयीन मुलगी.कोणत्यातरी  कारणाने खूप खूश आहे.थोडे डोळे मिचकावत  सुखाचा शोध घेतीय.पण तिला वरुन घोंगावणा-या संकटाची चाहूलही लागली नाही.बिचारी.तिला वाटतय वरुन सुखाच्या  आनंदाच्या धारा वाहतायत पण तिलाकाय माहीत याच अश्रुच्या धारा आहेत.बिचारी चिमुरडीचं हा केसाळ हात  काय करील कोण जाणे.तिच कोण रक्षण करील पुढचा क्षण तिच्यासाठी कसा असेल.

काही अनोळखी

काही वादळी

तर काही मुक्त उधळणीचे...

साकारताना विनातक्रार

उजळतात नक्षत्रदिवे आठवांचे

चित्रशिल्प अलगद अवतरते

माझ्या नसानसातले... 

करुन देतेओळख माझी 

मलाच पुन्हा नव्याने... 

पाषाणात उगवणाऱ्या 

पिंपळपानासारखी.

I have always heard people saying  that we are puppets in the hands of destiny.

Destiny or fate? Both walk hand in hand. I believe that destiny can be shaped. It is a matter of choice. It gives us freedom of choice to pick what is right and what is wrong.You need to have a closer look in your inner self.  In my case , relocating to India was in my destiny as we had choices but we chose to move back. But fate is something that is out of our control. Just for an example , our birth....where we are born ,which country we are born etc, is out of our control. Here we are merely puppets in the hands of a puppeteer. 

Since I heard this phrase from many people around me , I decided to put this on my canvas.( When it comes to writing I am not a creative person at all) . 

So here is the finished painting. The hand with the strings dangling, the mask being the symbol of all humankind who are puppets. I have tried to paint this in sync with the previous painting and so the same color combination. "Kathputli" is Hindi name for puppet. My next painting will also have the same colors and the theme will be time....getting hold of time.

Viewer's perspective on "Anonymity"....by Manisha Vedpathak

I liked these lines.

"Art can only be viewed through the meeting of two perspectives – that of the viewer and that of the artist".

And to know the unique perception of your artwork from the viewer is really interesting for an artist. I love asking people around me about my painting at various stages. When I was painting "Anonymity", I posted the image on my friends whatsapp group and asked for their perspective of the painting. I had then painted only one mask . I would like to share some of the views here:(my apologies for some posts are in Marathi language, which is my native language)

We all wear mask. Perfection masks, superiority masks, intellectual masks, 

social masks of coolness, aloofness,strength etc . We try to hide ourselves behind these masks. We get so much habituated  of wearing masks in front of others that we finally loose our identity. Bearing these may or may not be a conscious decision . The reason might be social conventions ,fear etc.It is very important for a person to know the real  human being he/she is. Whilst masks harm us by stopping us to lead a natural way in life's stream , they also protect us from being emotionally wounded by others. I believe they should be  worn temporarily. We need to acquire the skill of timely dropping and putting  these masks. Absence of masks lead to difficulty in handling reality. So we need to look into our inner self to know how to cope up with this . 

My painting connects with the viewer by asking several questions like, "What is real and what is unreal?", " Which mask do you wear?", "Given a chance which mask will you drop?" ....Sometimes the mind is doubtful and sometimes it is clear. The color combination used here depict these emotions.

New painting started . Already three layers have been added, some more to go. I didn't 

have any plan before hand on how this painting will take shape nor have thought of any color combination but if possible I want to add some masks to this painting. Let's see how it works and what meaning will it give to the painting.

"Abundance".....an abstract by Manisha Vedpathak

All my life I have believed the Law of Physics that opposites attract opposites,

but according to the Law of Attraction, "Likes attract Likes". I have been posting
my painting in progress on this theme. I am finally done with it. 

The entire concept of Law of Attraction is based on like attracts like. There is a lot 

of information on LOA(Law of attraction). There are people coaching LOA, 

courses teaching you how to practice this Law and various articles explaining it. 

So I won't go into details explaining the Law as one post is not enough to write about LOA.

The Law of Attraction states that whatever you think of consistently, gets created. Your

 thoughts are powerful magnets and you willget what you consistently think about 

whether you want it or not.  So start intentionally thinking about what you would 

like in your life- such as money, love, relationships, health, spirituality-for the LOA

 to work for you. 

 There are various ways of practicing this Law. There are leaders who can coach you 

through it. While browsing through all this information on the internet, I came across

              something called a Vision Board. Vision boards have become a really popular exercise

for figuring out exactly what you want in your life. These boards contain images

 and words that resonate with what you want to attract your way. Secondly, the i

mages serve as a great reminder of your desires. Each day, you can look at the

 board and remind yourself of what you’re trying to attract. 

Financial abundance is the number onereason people become interested in the 

Law of Attraction. So my paintingis a sort of a vision board for people who 

want to attract prosperity. It comprises of money and the material things that 

money can buy (like property, car etc), freedom, luck and relationships. 

Hang this painting in such a place that you can see this everyday. Take out

time everyday to review the visualization exercises and prep your mind 

and body to receive this incredible gift.

They say that "Gratitude will shift you to a higher frequency and you will

 attract much better things".Creating this piece of work was a gratifying experience
